In Loving Memory of Hudson Baker (2019 - 2023)

Hudson Baker, a brave young boy who touched the lives of many, passed away on December 7, 2023, at the tender age of 4, after a valiant battle against Sonic Hedgehog Medulloblastoma. His journey, though brief, was marked by extraordinary courage, resilience, and the unwavering love of his family and community.

The story of Hudson's fight began on November 22, 2021, when, at just 2 years old, he was diagnosed with Sonic Hedgehog Medulloblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. The diagnosis came as a devastating shock to his family, who had noticed his symptoms worsening over the preceding weeks. Rushed to the emergency room, doctors discovered a mass on his brain, prompting immediate action.

Emergency surgery was performed to alleviate the pressure caused by fluid buildup in Hudson's brain. Despite the holiday atmosphere, Thanksgiving Day of that year saw Hudson undergo an all-day surgery to remove the tumor. Led by one of the best surgeons, the procedure was successful, offering a glimmer of hope amid the darkness. Little did they know, however, that this would mark just the beginning of Hudson's arduous journey.

Hudson's resilience shone brightly as he endured six months of grueling chemotherapy treatments, his tiny frame battling the ravages of cancer with remarkable strength. The family was encouraged by the outpouring of support from their loving village, a network of friends and family who stood by them every step of the way, offering prayers, encouragement, and practical assistance.

For a brief moment, it seemed as though Hudson had triumphed. In a cruel twist of events, cancer reared its ugly head once more, striking Hudson with renewed ferocity just six months later. Undeterred, he embarked on another round of treatment, this time undergoing radiation therapy starting on January 7, 2023.

Throughout it all, Hudson's parents, Brittany and Jana, remained unwavering in their love and dedication, drawing strength from the incredible courage displayed by their young son. Their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support knows no bounds, as they navigated the tumultuous waters of grief and loss.

As we bid farewell to Hudson, we do so with heavy hearts and a profound sense of gratitude for having spent those precious years with him. His infectious smile, indomitable spirit, and boundless love will forever remain etched in our memories, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who had the privilege of crossing his path.

Though Hudson's time with us was tragically short, his legacy will endure, a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the unbreakable human spirit. May his memory live on, a guiding light in the darkness, and may his story inspire us to cherish each precious moment and to never lose hope, even in the face of life's greatest challenges.

Our gratitude will spread even farther than Hudson, as we have a heart for helping more kids that may have similar fights ahead.

XO
